Linda Van-der Maaten, one of many Kelowna artists, was born in Vancouver in 1961. At age 13 she moved with her family to Canim Lake, BC (100 Mile House area). She spent her teenage years growing up with horses, wildlife and wilderness. In 1980 she married and moved to Williams Lake where she became self-employed with her husband. In 2008 she moved to the Okanagan to be closer to her family.
Linda’s interest in art began at an early age. Predominantly self-taught, she has experimented with numerous forms of art including pen and ink as well as painting, but eventually fell in love with the depth of colors and textures of her present work. She uses mixed media which includes tile, stones and glass. Her designs are unique and true originals. Each piece is characterized by her vibrant use of color and texture, which fully arouses the viewer’s senses. They leave you with a feeling of wonder and intrigue. The photographs of her work cannot truly depict the true depth and richness of each piece.
Linda’s work is being displayed at the New Moon Gallery in Westbank, B.C.
